Hauser & Wirth is delighted to present masterpieces from the Helga and Walther Lauffs Collection at TEFAF 2010 — Held in Maastricht NL, The European Fine Arts Fair is widely recognised as the world’s foremost art, design and antiques event.

Hauser & Wirth will present seminal works from the legendary collection of Helga and Walther Lauffs, one of Europe’s most important private collections of Minimalist and Conceptual art, at TEFAF 2010. The Lauffs, with the guidance of Paul Wember, the visionary director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum in Krefeld from 1947 to 1976, built a singularly focused collection that represents the nexus of European and American artistic sensibilities of the post-war era. An in-depth study of the Lauffs Collection was published by Zwirner & Wirth in conjunction with Steidl in late 2009, featuring works by Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Tom Wesselmann, Joseph Beuys, On Kawara, Christo and Joseph Cornell that will be shown this year at TEFAF. These works have seldom been seen outside of Germany, where they were on long-term loan at the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum until 2008.

In addition, the gallery will display works by modern and contemporary masters, including Rodney Graham, Louise Bourgeois, Bruce Nauman, Francis Picabia, Alexander Calder, Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Subodh Gupta, Eva Hesse, Georg Baselitz and Alberto Giacometti.
