Six New Etchings by Callum Innes, published by Ingleby Gallery

We are pleased to announce the release of a new print making project by Callum Innes, the third that he has completed since we began publishing his prints in 2004, and by far his most ambitious to date.

R I - R V is a suite of five prints and R VI is a single print. All are large-scale works which develop the ideas behind his Repetition series of paintings (the R in the title is a reference to this) and which use the possibilities of print making to move these ideas forward in a new way. Innes has employed his trademark "unpainting" technique to create the prints - applying oil paint onto a transparent polythene film then removing layers of paint using turpentine. The resulting images have been transfered onto etching plates using a light-sensitive film exposed under UV light.

Printed by master printer Alfons Bytautas at Edinburgh Printmakers, these prints represent a significant new body of work by a critically acclaimed Scottish artist who can be found in public collections around the world. They follow his successful series of prints based on his Exposed Paintings, published by Ingleby Gallery between 2004 and 2005.
