Geelong re-imagined and Observed works from the West Coast Deakin University Art Gallery (Melbourne Burwood Campus) 14 September to 22 October 2011 Dennys Lascelles Exhibition Space (Geelong Waterfront Campus) 28 October to 26 November 2011 This exhibition celebrates the acquisition of a major work by renowned artist Jan Senbergs, for the Deakin University Art Collection - Geelong Capriccio (If Geelong were settled instead of Melbourne) 2010. Deakin University Art Gallery will present an exhibition of Senbergs' landscape works that reveal a longstanding preoccupation with Victoria's West Coast including Airey's Inlet, the Great Ocean Road, the Otways and beyond. Like an inventor and navigator, Senbergs combines imaginary conceptions of landscape with the world as it rolls out before his eyes. The result is a curious blend of cartography and observation - a world in which we reside, and simultaneously lives in us.
