NOEL McKENNA
South of no North: Laurence Aberhart, William Eggleston, Noel McKenna
Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney
8th March - 5th May 2013

Noel McKenna's work is being celebrated in an intriguing new exhibition at MCA, Sydney. South of No North exhibits photographs and video by influential American artist, William Eggleston and New Zealand photographer, Laurence Aberhart, alongside Noel McKenna's paintings and ceramic tiles. Curator, Glenn Barkley, has carefully chosen these three artists who choose subject matter that is often easily overlooked. The works are carefully clustered and juxtaposed so that relationships can be seen and wondered at. All three artists have in common an eye for the awkward angle and realise the power of the apparently modest and simple.

MICHELLE GRABNER ANNOUNCED AS CO-CURATOR OF WHITNEY MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART 2014 BIENNIAL

Many will remember Michelle's beautiful show at Niagara Galleries in 2003. These days, not only is Michelle Grabner, Professor and Chair of the Painting and Drawing Department at the School of Art Institute, Chicago, as well as senior critic at Yale University in the Department of Painting and Printmaking, and running an artist run space, she has now been selected as one of the three co-curators for the Whitney Museum of American Art 2014 Biennial. This exhibition is regarded as the Whitney's signature survey of contemporary American art.
