The South London Gallery is one of London's foremost venues for contemporary art, presenting a challenging programme of exhibitions, live art and events complemented by an integrated programme of education projects and activities.
The gallery was founded by philanthropist William Rossiter, and opened at its present site at 65 Peckham Road in 1891. The aim of the founding committee was "to bring contemporary art to the working people of South London", to be South London's 'National Gallery'. |
