Dear sm.ART-friends, We would like to bring to your attention the arrest of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei! On Sunday, April 3rd, 2011 the renowned artist Ai Weiwei was arrested by Chinese police as he was boarding for a flight to Hong Kong. Attempts to contact the artist have been in vain and the Chinese authorities deny any comment on the issue. We can put a poignant and impressive statement if the art circles of the world make common effort demanding Ai Weiwei´s release. Therefore, the Guggenheim Museum has launched a petition via change.org and we suggest you may want to join Guggenheim´s petition for the release of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei Please go to: www.change.org/petitions General INFO Guggenheim´s petition: The Danish artist Jens Galschiot has uploaded comprehensive documentation about China on his homepage: www.aidoh.dk as well as about the detention of Ai Weiwei: www.aidoh.dk/Ai-Weiwei sibylle mueller sm.ART curating & consulting mail@smARTcurating.com www.smartcurating.com le rose de france 17, boulevard de suisse 98000 monte-carlo monaco phone +33 - (0)6 - 27 58 77 48 fax +377 – 97 70 35 16 | |||
