sm.ART was founded 2002 in San Francisco, California, by Sibylle Mueller. 2003 saw the opening of its first dedicated exhibition space in Munich, Germany, with a private preview of the exhibition of San Francisco-based photographer Mona Kuhn at gallery "Galerie Charles Schumann" in Munich. sm.ART relocated in 2005 to Zurich, Switzerland; one of the main motivating forces behind that move was the fact that Zurich does not only have one of Europe's most thriving and fastest growing art scenes, but is also home to some of the world's most interested and qualified art collectors.
